Recon.

Once upon a time I was experimenting with making men's clothes. I used one of my dad's old shirts as a pattern and timed myself while making a new shirt. I used some of the fabric from my mom's stash. Unfortunately I can't show you a before picture because I've totally deleted it from both my hard drive and the internet. Anyway it was really big and ugly.

So last night I reconned it into a peasant blouse. This is what it looks like now:

This is what I did.

1. Take off the front chest pockets.
2. Cut open a big neckline and put in drawstring. In the back, be sure to cut free the pleats to make the neckline bigger.
3. Cut sleeves short and put elastic in the sleeve hems.
4. Use fabric from the sleeves to make four gores. Put two gores in front and two in back, at the bottom of the body. The gores are hemmed before being put in.

And that's it. Pretty simple. I'm going to make a few more of these with other big button-up shirts and see how well they sell.
