Ideas.3

Eyeball cheesecake: Like this, only designed to look like an eye. White cheesecake filling, cheesecake filling of whatever desired iris color (the color can also indicate flavor like blueberry or chocolate), and black cheesecake filling (this can be dark chocolate flavored). The colored cheesecake filling doesn't have to be flavored differently, it can just be food-colored. Also use raspberry/strawberry/cherry syrup for bloodshot eyes. I think this is better than the eyeball sundae idea, unless you can get the eyeball sundae to be more spherical.

This 1-Up mushroom burger wins in the burger category.

Man, food that looks like other things, I am taking this so far beyond the rolls-that-look-like-teddy-bears of my youth.

  1. Do people actually eat that stuff? I'm all for nostalgia but that burger looks very unappetizing. Not that I would know anything about that.

It seems somewhat upsetting to know that the food you spent the time to craft is just going to be destroyed, either through being eaten or decay. If I were more pretentious, I'd say it's part of the artwork showing the temporary nature of life.

I feel dirty for writing that.

  2. I'm all for delicious burgers but I don't really care for videogames. That said, I might not go through the effort of making that particular burger but I would definitely eat it. Based on knowing what's inside more than what it looks like, I think it looks delicious.

This is why, if you make interesting-looking food, you should make it amusing rather than a complex piece of art that took you way longer to make than it would have otherwise.

My goal with food will always be tastiness foremost, and then looks. If I can get interesting looks with just a tiny bit more effort, then it's worth it.

  3. That's pretty impressive, but it doesn't even come close to the utter geekery that is the Disc World Wedding Cake

Yes, it was a wedding cake, and yes, there are instructions.

  4. Thank goodness I'm not THAT much a fan of anything. (No, I promise . . . my wedding cake will not be Slytherin themed, I swear.)

  5. We went to this Thai restaurant and they put little radishes on my sister's meal to garnish it.

They were cut to look like wee Mario-style mushrooms.

  6. Food that looks like other food is a whole new level of food that looks like other things.
