Curioser and Curioser.

I visited my parents this weekend and I brought my sewing machine. I had my dad look at it and tried a few things on it myself, but long story short, it worked. Without us really doing anything to fix it. When I got to my apartment I plugged it in and tried it again, and it didn't work. So apparently the machine is fine, it just doesn't work in my apartment. (And for the record I tried it in different outlets in different rooms just to be sure.) That's annoying because I'll be living here for another 3 weeks and I have 4 commissioned pieces to make, but having a machine that doesn't work where I live is definitely better than having one that doesn't work at all.

I find this especially strange because all my other machines and electronics are working fine. But whatever. If it's a problem with the wiring or whatever in the apartment, that will be someone else's problem soon. I'm just glad to know that my machine is not yet gone forever, even though I can't use it right now.

  1. That is curious. Electronics are so inscrutable.

It is good to hear that the commissions are rolling in.

  2. That's awesome about the commissions!

And even though you're not excited about moving back to Murray, it does put you closer to Salt Lake. I'd love to hang out sometime if you're interested.

  3. Could it be sewing machine wires jiggling around as you transport it, like a faulty connection of some sort...?

  4. I thought about maybe the connection changing as it gets bumped around in my car, but that's some pretty specific changes. I mean what are the odds that the connection would suddenly get messed up for no apparent reason, get jostled perfectly into place on one car ride, and then get jostled out of place the exact way as before on a subsequent car ride?

  5. I looked at an apartment the other day, whereby one roommate was a costumist, sewing machine and all. She was from Arizona, and 22, and for some reason I felt like stabbing her by the time I left the place. And I though to myself, Costumists are supposed to be LE AWESOMME, because Redoubt is Le Awesomme, and is not she the standard whereby all inferiour costumists are held? But clearly not, because this one sewed baby clothes for a living. BABY CLOTHES. I didn't take the apartment.
